What moves the price
- Linear footage — the obvious one; measured off your actual roofline, not your square footage.
- Stories and roof pitch — second-story work is slower and requires more safety setup; steep pitches likewise.
- Gutter size — Florida’s downpours often justify 6″ over 5″ on larger roof planes; bigger coil costs slightly more and clogs less.
- Downspout count and routing — proper drainage on a slab home sometimes means more downspouts than the previous installer used, or rerouting away from the foundation.
- Fascia condition — rotted fascia discovered at tear-off has to be fixed before anything can be anchored to it. An honest installer tells you at the estimate, not as a mid-job surprise.
Why the cheapest bid usually costs more
